After Care

Good healing makes good ink. Here's how to take care of your new tattoo or piercing.

Healing Starts With You

Follow these guidelines closely for the first few weeks to help your new tattoo or piercing heal cleanly and keep its colour and detail for years to come.

Tattoo Aftercare

  • Keep the original bandage on for 2-4 hours after your session.
  • Wash gently with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free, mild soap. Pat dry with a clean towel - never rub.
  • Apply a thin layer of the recommended aftercare ointment 2-3 times a day for the first few days.
  • Switch to a fragrance-free moisturiser once the tattoo starts to flake and peel (usually day 4-7).
  • Wear loose, breathable clothing over the tattooed area while it heals.
  • Full healing typically takes 2-3 weeks, though it may look healed sooner.
  • Don't pick, scratch or peel scabs - let them fall off naturally.
  • Don't soak the tattoo - avoid swimming pools, bathtubs, saunas and the sea for at least 2-3 weeks.
  • Don't expose it to direct sunlight or tanning beds while healing, and always use sunscreen afterwards.
  • Don't work out heavily or sweat excessively for the first few days.

Piercing Aftercare

  • Clean the piercing 1-2 times a day with a sterile saline solution.
  • Wash your hands thoroughly before touching the piercing or jewellery.
  • Gently rotate the jewellery only while cleaning, not throughout the day.
  • Keep the area dry and clean, and pat dry with a disposable paper towel.
  • Healing time varies by placement - from a few weeks (earlobe) to several months (cartilage, navel).
  • Don't remove the jewellery before the piercing has fully healed.
  • Don't use alcohol, hydrogen peroxide or harsh antibacterial soap on a fresh piercing.
  • Don't swim in pools, lakes or the sea until it's fully healed.
  • Avoid sleeping directly on a fresh piercing and keep hair/makeup products away from it.

When To See A Doctor

Some redness, warmth and mild swelling is normal for the first few days. But if you notice spreading redness, pus, a bad odour, fever, or the pain gets worse instead of better, stop self-treating and see a doctor promptly. If you have any concerns during healing, you're always welcome to call or WhatsApp us and we'll help you figure out next steps.
